Hey,
We need to talk. Have a seat. (Nothing good ever starts this way, does it?)
The last 2 years have been filled with the highest of highs and some pretty darn rough lows. You - the customers - have sustained me during those difficult days of a small business owner. I'm continually inspired by your enthusiasm for better solutions to avoid plastic, your questions and feedback, and the discussions we have all had.
The pandemic turned our world upside down in March 2020. Life changed, business evolved. Even more today, people are embracing the inspiration of Zero Waste, but the retail landscape hasn't supported it. Supply chain disruptions are still the norm, retail shopping is limited - particularly for bulk items. That bulk grocery store of our business plan? It has been on hold for 11 months now, and there doesn't appear to be an end in sight.
I still dream of a place where it's easy to shop for products without plastic. Groceries, home necessities, personal care - that dream hasn't died... it just isn't the right time for this store. We'll be winding down and taking a hiatus for a while, with the hopes of coming back even bigger and stronger in the future.
We still have inventory in stock, and while we're running low on certain jar shapes (and can't buy them - thanks, supply chain) we'll happily fill orders while we have items in stock.
The effort hasn't ended. Our work is not over. We'll each continue our individual efforts, and Byrd's Filling Station will be back one day, when the time is right. We wish you all the best, and we look forward to connecting again in the future.
